I’m Lisa Bamford, a Brighton-based graphic designer. I’ve been delivering successful design projects for 20 years, since graduating from Kingston University with a BA(Hons) Graphic Design. My roles in the design industry prior to Stoats & Weasels have included managing a £1m+ design and print company for five years. Therefore, as well as my creative talents, I have experienced running a business, marketing, project and account management – so have first hand understanding of all that they entail.
Formally co-owner of Brighton design studio Itonic (2005–12), I started Stoats & Weasels in 2012. My aim is to bring fresh and imaginative design to my clients’ branding and marketing. Reliable on delivery and deadlines, I’m versatile enough to meet the needs of a diverse bunch of clients. From clean typography to decorative illustrative elegance; from confident logos to engaging websites, I love every element of design – and it is this enthusiasm that I bring to every project I work on.
Why Stoats & Weasels? Well like my namesakes in the wild, I take on both large and small challenges. I succeed through creativity, experience and complete dedication to the task. I have a tried and tested pool of collaborators to draw from (web developers, copywriters, photographers, marketeers etc). This means I can build a team around the needs of a bigger project, and keep everyone happy (you and them).
Creativity is essential, but the success of a good design lies in how well it meets the needs of the client. My approach is to listen carefully and get a conversation going. I get to understand what you want to achieve from the project: brand impact, effective messaging, visual personality… and so on. The design process serves the outcome, and so the desired outcome determines the creative approach. The two are closely related, a bit like stoats and weasels.
It’s nice when people compliment my work because of how good it looks. It’s even nicer when people praise it for how perfectly it meets the needs of the client.
