I love paper

A little while ago Matt from GF Smith dropped round a pile of stock samples. Oh my. They’re not just your run of the mill (pardon the pun… paper mill? eh?) samples. GF Smith have always produced the most amazing stocks for designers to get excited about working with, but the way they’ve packaged their latest wares make them into things of beauty. I think I did more squeaking than is appropriate when he was showing them to me. Then again, he’s probably used to it.

The photos above don’t really do it all justice, but the creativity and technical skills shown in the range are just stunning. The designers involved are very lucky indeed to be able to work with such amazing papers and processes. I love paper… sigh…

The stock you use for your printing can make a huge difference to the feeling (in both senses of the word) that it conveys. Online printers moo.com use their double thickness Mohawk stock for their ‘luxe’ business card range… whenever I hand one to someone it’s usually met with some cooing. I’m hoping for a client with a healthy print budget (GF Smith is very lovely indeed but not cheap) will be knocking on my door soon! Know anyone that needs some print design doing?
